To ensure a safe, healthy, and happy environment for all our furry guests, Sadie's Playhouse for Dogs has the following rules and requirements for all boarding and daycare attendees:

• Vaccination Requirements (Strictly Enforced)

  For the safety and well-being of all pets in our care, proof of current vaccinations from a licensed veterinarian is mandatory for every dog. Please provide records prior to your pet's stay.

  • Rabies: Current within 1 or 3 years, as per state law.
  • Distemper/Parvovirus (DHPP/DAPP): Current. This is a combination vaccine protecting against Distemper, Adenovirus (Hepatitis), Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus.
  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough): Current, administered at least 7-10 days prior to arrival. Many facilities recommend or require this vaccine every 6 months due to its prevalence. We prefer the intranasal or oral form if available.
  • Canine Influenza (H3N2 & H3N8): Highly recommended, especially for social dogs attending daycare or boarding. If your dog is receiving this for the first time, a booster shot is required 2-4 weeks after the initial dose, and immunity develops about 7 days after the booster. Please ensure the full series is completed well in advance of their stay.
  • Parasite Prevention: All dogs must be free of fleas, ticks, and other parasites. We recommend year-round heartworm and flea/tick preventative prescribed by your veterinarian. Pets found with parasites upon arrival will be treated at the owner's expense.

• Health & Wellness

  • Good Health:

    All dogs must be in good health and free from any contagious conditions (e.g., coughing, vomiting, diarrhea) for at least 30 days prior to arrival. If your pet has been ill, a veterinarian's certification of health may be required to return.

  • Age Requirements:

    Puppies: Must be at least 4 months old and have completed their initial series of core puppy vaccinations, including Rabies.

  • Spay/Neuter:

    All dogs over 6 months of age must be spayed or neutered to participate in group daycare or co-mingled boarding. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for private boarding only, at the discretion of Sadie's Playhouse for Dogs.

  • Medications:

    We can administer oral or topical medications as instructed by you. Please provide clear written instructions and the medication in its original container.

• Behavior & Temperament

  • Socialization: All dogs attending daycare or co-mingled boarding must be friendly towards other dogs and people. Our environment promotes group play and interaction.
  • Aggression: Dogs with a history of aggression towards other dogs or people are not suitable for our group environment. We reserve the right to refuse service to any dog exhibiting aggressive behavior, excessive reactivity, or behaviors that may create an unsafe environment for themselves or others.
  • Temperament Assessment: For new daycare or boarding dogs, a meet and greet, trial daycare day or a temperament assessment may be required prior to their first full stay to ensure they are a good fit for our social environment.
  • Basic Manners: While we don't require formal obedience, dogs that understand basic commands (e.g., sit, stay, come) and walk politely on a leash generally have a smoother transition and more enjoyable stay.
  • Destructive Behavior: Dogs exhibiting destructive chewing, excessive barking, or separation anxiety that cannot be managed in a group setting may not be suitable for our services.
  • On Leash: All dogs must arrive and depart Sadie's Playhouse on a leash, securely fastened with a collar or harness
  • No Choke or Prong Collars: For the safety of all dogs during play, choke chains, prong collars, and electronic collars are not permitted during daycare or communal play times. We recommend a flat buckle collar or harness with ID tags.

• Owner Responsibilities

  • Full Disclosure: Owners must accurately disclose any behavioral issues, health concerns, allergies, or special needs their dog may have.
  • Food: Please provide your dog's regular food, pre-portioned per meal in clearly labeled containers or bags, to maintain their routine and avoid digestive upset.
  • Personal Belongings: You may bring a bed, crate and/or blanket (something familiar from home) and a few toys for your dog's comfort during boarding. Please limit these items to what can reasonably fit in their designated space. Sadie's Playhouse is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items.
  • Emergency Contact: Provide up-to-date emergency contact information, including a local emergency contact if you will be out of town.
  • Understanding Risks: Owners acknowledge that while we strive for the safest environment, there are inherent risks associated with group play and boarding, including minor nicks, scratches, or illness, just as there are in any social setting for dogs.
